It's true what they say about Cambodians, they're always smiling and they're very friendly, even the monks!. Or maybe the reason I got talked to more is because I looked like a local? Either way, it was a wonderful experience. Go to Cambodia the first chance you get, you won't regret it. More pictures here.

p.s. I re-discovered the wonders of riding a bike. I wish this to be available in every single one of the tourist spots in the whole world. And I can't thank Steve Jobs enough for the ipod. Sometimes all a girl needs for companions are Modest Mouse, Bamboo, Franz Ferdinand, and Ben Folds. Who ever said I traveled alone?

I started listing all the books I finished reading just this year (you don't have to say it, I KNOW I'm a geek) so I don't know if my tally is better or worse than last year's. Either way a total of 13 is not good. It's not even true because I'm only halfway through the 13th, so it's more like 12 and 1/2. How many have you read this year?

In other news, please watch "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros". It's so good I cried, and I have never cried over a local movie.

Just when I figured out how to "treat" a wound so it would be a barely noticeable scar, I have to stop climbing. It's been a good run (or hike, har har), I've made friends for life and seen things I never imagined I would, I guess a couple of scars here and there didn't hurt. If anything, it's a great reminder of...well, just about everything. Besides, boys dig scars, don't they?

For weeks now I've been walking like an 80-year old woman; PT didn't help and pain relievers don't do shit, so this Friday they'll be doing an EMG test on my right hamstring. It's to see if there's any nerve being pinched down there. With a needle that big, they should be able to tell me something substantial or there will be hell to pay.

Last Saturday, I let my 13-year old nephew play with my camera while I played mahjong (in which I won, by the way). He took this picture of his sister and I was so surprised with the result. He has the eye, no? With a few technical lessons and practice, I think I got myself a competition over the title of "official photographer of the Rodrigo family".

The one thing that pisses me off the most about Powerbooks, aside from the chick lit that dominates the store, is the fact that they changed the type of price tag stickers they put on their books. I'm a stickler for the removal of price tags on just about everything and I used to be able to remove them from (Powerbooks-bought) books without any problem. The last 2 I bought, I just kept the price tag on because I can't remove them cleanly. You have no idea how that just kills me.

I had the whole weekend plus 3 days off in exchange of going to the office on holy week and took advantage of it and explored Bicolandia alone. First, Donsol, Sorsogon for the butanding. While getting to "ride" a butanding was an amazing experience, discovering this little piece of surfing heaven tucked in an unknown corner of Catanduanes was fulfilling. I don't surf, but watching the locals surf their hearts out so early in the morning made me want to learn how.

Travelling alone was an amazing experience. I got to meet the coolest people in the most unexpected places. It's addicting and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I brought my pinhole camera to my uncle's birthday party and asked my cousins and uncle to pose for me (these are three of what i took). They were curious with my little old camera and were only too happy to sit still for at least 2 seconds. I've always wanted to take pinhole portraits and manipulating my relatives into sitting still and giving that faraway look off camera was a charming little bonus I enjoyed taking. But don't tell them that.
